Popcorn On Couch’s 10 most anticipated movies of 2016

Countdowns Movie Lists Movies Recommendations

4 months in to 2016 and we already have many great critically acclaimed movies like Zootropolis, 10 Cloverfield Lane and The witch. We already have two superhero movies Deadpool and Batman V superman which have broken grossing records. So far 2016 has been a good year for movie fans and its only April!

Unfortunately with a few good movies you also get a few bad movies which was the case for Zoolander 2 a highly anticipated movie which didn’t live up to expectations. But luckily we still have many, hopefully great upcoming movies. I countdown my 10 most anticipated movies of 2016.

10. War Dogs

Finally a movie with Miles Teller and Jonah Hill together, I am a fan of both of them and I can already tell they will have great chemistry in War Dogs. This movie is from the same guys who gave you The Hangover, so I know this will be a pretty funny movie, well if you forget the two disappointing Hangover sequels.

9. The nice guys

Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe with slick facial hair in a comedy movie wearing awesome outfits, count me in! Not much more needs to be said except for that trailer was awesome !

8 Masterminds

I’ve been patiently waiting for Masterminds to be released; it was initially released for summer 2015 but got rescheduled to autumn 2016. With a hilarious trailer and an awesome cast which consist of some of my favourite comedy actors Zach Galifianakis, kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis. I’m sure Masterminds will be a very funny comedy and hopefully will meet my expectations.

7. The Secret Life of Pets

When counting down my most anticipated movies, I have to add an animated movie because I really adore them. The secret Life of Pets is one I’m interested in, I’ve only seen the trailer but the movie seems cute and funny. Also it was created by the same guys who created Despicable Me, so it should be fun.

6. Doctor strange

I don’t know much about Doctor Strange, even after watching the strange and mysterious trailer, I didn’t get much, but it was enough for me to get excited and to know that Benedict Cumberbatch seems perfect for the role. I also spotted Tilda Swinton in this trailer and her character seems interesting. This might be a very unique marvel standalone superhero movie, which a lot of people will enjoy.

5. Sausage party

A movie which you could describe as Toy story meets South Park will hit cinemas in August and I am really excited! Why? Because it’s an R rated animated movie abo….Just watch the trailer and you will know why! This movie stars great comedy actors such as Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader and more, whom I’m sure will make this animated movie hilarious.

4. X-men: Apocalypse

The previous two X-Men movies have been great, especially X-men: Days Of Future Past which I really enjoyed. X-men Apocalypse should be a strong movie to carry the new X-men Franchise. The trailer looks good and we also get to see more of our favourite mutants, Mystique, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Storm and more. This movie should be good.

3. Passengers

When I heard Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt were going to be in this movie together, immediately I was sold. Ever since then I’ve been excited to watch this unique Sci-fi romance. Hopefully with these two great actors, the unique story and the high budget, Passengers will be a fantastic movie, one we definitely must watch.

2. Captain America: Civil War

The marvel universe has been consistently releasing superb superhero movies and Captain America: Civil War should be no different. The studio has done a great job by exciting the fans with awesome trailers. With the introduction of the new Spiderman and Black Panther, the rivalry between Captain America and Ironman, this movie should be Excellent!

1. Suicide squad

After the disappointment of Batman V Superman for some, Suicide Squad has a huge burden to carry for the DC Universe. So far Suicide squad seems to be good! Two trailers have been released for this movie and they’re both amazing, a movie with a bunch of bad guys trying to do good ought to be entertaining. Suicide squad has a lot going for it with its great cast, entertaining trailers plus The Joker (Jared Leto seems like a good joker) it will probably be a hit for the critics and fans. I am really excited to watch this movie and have high expectations for it therefore Suicide Squad is number one on my most anticipated movies of 2016!

I know some of you may be wondering why Finding Dory, Rogue One: A star wars story and Star Trek: Beyond aren’t on this list. Although I am excited to see them, they’re not in my top ten.
